Wednesday 31st January 2018 – Orchard Planting for Bats in the Tamar Valley 2nd of 2 practical days in January

Date: Wednesday 31st January 2018

Time: 10.30am-4.00pm

Venue: Hatches Farm, Calstock Rd, Gunnislake, Cornwall, PL18 9BX

Orchard planting for bats is a practical volunteer task day with Devon Greater Horseshoe Bat Project.  Join us to help plant apple trees back into this old but deteriorating orchard which has been here since at least 1870.

Tasks will involve digging in trees and fencing them in to prevent damage from livestock.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided but please bring your own lunch. Wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear. Parking available in the farm yard.

Orchards are a great habitat for foraging greater horseshoe bats, and this orchard is right next to the Tamar and very close to an important greater horseshoe bat maternity roost. Come along to hear more about why orchards matter!
