Saturday 25th March – Tree Planting in the Teign Valley
Date: Saturday 25th March 2017
Venue: Oxen Park Farm (lunch and refreshments provided)
Tree Planting in the Teign Valley
Join this free event organised by ‘On the Hill’ to plant trees in a brilliant area for bats. Orchards and woodland areas are great habitats for bats.
‘On The Hill’ is a new community interest company situated at Oxen Park Farm in the Teign Valley, providing land-based learning opportunities for young people, as well as potential for adult learning and teacher education in outdoor and environmental education.
Within the coming weeks they have a really important seasonal task to carry out and are asking for your help;
The main growing area, a five-acre field, is to be an orchard with approx. 300 fruit trees, 150 of these trees are waiting in a barn to be planted. They are also planting 5 acres with 3500 native woodland trees. 1000 of these will go in this year.
‘On The Hill’ invite you to a tree planting day on Saturday the 25th of March. Some of the work will be planting trees and some may involve some preparatory work, fencing for example. Our working day will be between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
Please bring strong footwear, waterproofs and warm clothes, and a spade and work gloves if you have them – hot drinks, snacks and lunch will be provided
Please reply if you can come (or indeed any other time during the next month), as they need to know numbers in order to plan the work and catering.
Directions: from the B3193 heading north from the A38 at Chudleigh turn off right at Lower Ashton. Go past the pub, the Manor Inn and continue down the lane. Oxen Park Farm is on the left c.700m after the pub. Parking in front of the barn at the end of the track.
