Bat Works grant scheme

Could you apply for our BatWorks grant scheme?

BatWorks is a capital works scheme which awards up to £2,000 (incl. vat) to landowners, and up to £1,000 to community groups or schools to help cover the costs of activities that will benefit greater horseshoe bats in their area.

Application are considered 3 times per year (contact us for exact dates).

Here are some examples of recent projects;

Community

  • Plympton – A school wildflower project, where a secondary school will grow on wildflowers for giving to primary schools
  • Buckfastleigh – A whole school project to help become a bat friendly school, e.g. enabling schools grounds improvements, purchasing tools and other equipment
  • Chudleigh – Creating a bat friendly garden with a bat bench to kick start a bat friendly community project
  • Braunton – Interpretation and installation of a viewing platform to raise awareness of bats

Farming 

  • Tamar Valley – Planting/restoring a farm orchard
  • Avon Valley – Bat roost improvements in a barn and ‘Grazing Links’ project
  • East Devon – Installation of a new water supply to allow cattle grazing to take place
