We’re creating a new walking route to allow people to explore Berry Head National Nature Reserve and the Kingswear Peninsula, while learning how this beautiful landscape supports greater horseshoe bats. While they wait for dark, you can venture into their world in broad daylight to discover the importance of the surrounding countryside to the survival of the species. For example, well-managed hedges and grassland are vital to give the bats access to plenty of moths and beetles (their favourite prey), along with plenty of cow patsĀ for a good supply of dung beetles!
