Monday 5th September – Buckfastleigh Bat Blitz
3.30pm-6pm, Buckfastleigh Town Hall (Room 3), TQ11 0DD
Volunteers are needed to join our ‘Bat Blitz’ research surveys, where multiple detectors are placed in close proximity to the bat roost.
Drop in between 3.30pm and 6pm to pick up equipment. You will then deploy the equipment into specified locations in the surrounding countryside the same evening! No previous experience is required. Please bring a camera (or smartphone) and a torch.
You will then collect the detector anytime on Monday 12th September and return to us between 8-10am Tuesday 13th September.
These static recorders will help us collect data which will then be analysed to see what the greater horseshoe bats are up to.
Booking is advisable but not essential. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 01392 279244.
Research surveys are organised in partnership with the University of Exeter.
At the end of the recording season, the data will be analysed and the results reported back to you by the end of the year.Tags: research, bat blitz, university of exeter, buckfastleigh, bat festival, event, bat project
