Wildflower Meadows in the Tamar Valley – Scything event

Date: Wednesday 11th of September 2019
Time: 10.30am - 4.30pm
Location: Morwell Barton, but meet at the Tamar Trails Centre, PL19 8JE

Event Description

Join us at this wildflower meadow scything event.

The Tamar Community Trust and bat project are joining forces to organise this practical volunteer event.

You will learn to use a scythe to help manage a newly established wildflower meadow. The meadow is by a lovely stretch of the Tamar Valley at Morwell Barton.

Wildflower grassland surrounded by woods are great places for bats to hunt for their insect prey. The meadow is close to an important greater horseshoe bat maternity roost. As well as having a go at a traditional skill, you will find out why wildflower meadows are so important.
